As far as we can tell, this piano was made sometime in the late 1910s or 1920s.
The Aeolian company took Steinway pianos, lengthened them, and put in
the Duo-Art mechanism, which is all vacuum driven from one electric motor.
It is 6'2" from front to back, but we've found that the plate/harp and
strings are the same size as the "M" model Steinway (see
here and
here and
here)
The player mechanism was last used with a roll in 1994.
The motor still runs, and the pump still pulls enough vacuum to turn the roll spindle (see video below), but the tubing needs to be replaced.
The various bellows look supple and not cracked.
We have some diagrams, including a tubing diagram, but have not checked them for accuracy.
As for the normal piano parts: it has 2 broken treble strings, 1 broken agraffe, and of course needs to be tuned.
